Mayon Volcano in the Province of Albay is a magnet for tourists because of its near perfect cone shape from the summit to the base. The volcano has erupted about 48 times in recorded history. Way back in 1814, more than 1,200 people died when lava flows buried the town of Cagsawa. Its last major activity was an explosion of ash and steam in May 2013.

A total of 34 seminarians and 1 guest from Cainta, Rizal underwent a whole-day training on Disaster Management given by the Quiapo Church Disaster Preparedness and Response Ministry held on September 27, 2014, 8am-5pm at Dency’s Hall, San Jose Major Seminary, Ateneo de Manila University Campus, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

As part of its formation, the Marshalls who want to become part of the Ministry of Ushers received trainings on Disaster Management and Climate Change Adaptation on September 6 and 13 respectively given by the Quiapo Church Disaster Preparedness and Response Ministry held at the 3rd floor of Cardinal Sin Building at 6:00-8:00pm. The participants are part of the different mandated organizations of Hijos Del Nazareno.

Last September 12 and 13, the Quiapo Church Disaster Preparedness and Response Ministry led by Msgr. Clem Ignacio gave a two-day training on Disaster Management and Climate Change Adaptation to the Religious of the Good Shepherd (RGS) held at the RGS Compound, Aurora Boulevard, Quezon City. The participants were composed of religious sisters and RGS staff.
