Quiapo Church Community Mapping has already started since September 2012 in partnership with Environmental Science for Social Change (ESSC). Mapping workshops and activities were conducted with the help and assistance of BEC leaders. And now, the ministry is continuing the project independently. The updating and validation of data collected from the first community mapping activity are being done.

The Traslacion or the Feast of the Black Nazarene every January 9 is considered a High Density Population Gathering. With this, Quiapo Church is faced with the challenge to heighten its vigilance in ensuring that disaster risks or incidents are prevented or minimized and it is prepared to address the needs of affected population. This challenge was addressed through the implementation of the Incident Command System.

Incident Command System (ICS) is a standardized, on-scene, all-hazard incident management concept; allows its users to adopt an integrated organizational structure to match the complexities and demands of single or multiple incidents without being hindered by jurisdictional boundaries. ICS is non-permanent organization and is activated only in response to disasters or emergencies. (NDRRMC)

The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, or Quiapo Church, continues in its tireless efforts to provide "recovery shelter" for the October 15, 2013 earthquake victims in Bohol through its Rehabilitation Housing Project.

Mallillin, MBBN's Physical Plant Administrator, showed that a total number of 18 semi-permanent housing units have already been sent to different areas in Loon, Bohol. Six units were sent in Antiquera, 2 units in Nahawan, 1 unit in Inabanga, 8 units in Pangangan and 1 unit in Quasi. In addition, 3 units were transported to Loon, Bohol and be utilized as Medical center.

Our SSDM office has established coordination systems to different NGO's, foundation, LGU's, Academe, and national Government for effective and efficient relief and response operation. And this network and relationship has been consistently strengthened through continuous search and coordination. The parish comes up with social action centers directory nationwide and directory of all sectors who conduct relief operations for the purpose of coordination and to avoid duplication and updates it from time to time. Aside from the directory, the first thing that SSDM did is to map and identify the parishes/ dioceses that were affected by the disaster.
