Amid the threat of war and terror due to recent events such as the January 25 Mamasapano, Maguindanao clash, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) encourages everyone to pray the Oratio Imperata for Peace.

CBCP sought mandatory prayer (oratio imperata) for peace in Mindanao from March 1 to 28, before the Post-Communion Prayer in every Mass.

CBCP President and Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas said that the authority to declare an Oratio Imperata for the dioceses is the sole prerogative of the Local Ordinaries. This is the Church's best contribution to the present situation. Hopefully this prayer can calm the anxieties of our long suffering people and touch the hearts of the enemies of peace.
