On the 2nd day of the World Interfaith Harmony Week celebration, the University of Santo Tomas, specifically the Religions for Peace Philippines headed by Dr. Lilian J. Sison, together with Prof. Bong Baybado organized a forum on “Peace and Security in the Community: “A Shared Responsibility.”

This forum intends to educate our young people of today’s generation by educating them on how to response to the increasing threat of extremism in our society. The forum was attended by students from UST, Manuel L. Quezon University & Nazarene Catholic School, members from Latter Day Saint of Jesus Christ, MBBN Disaster Preparedness & Response Ministry staff and volunteers. The said activity was then headed by the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran Hon. Mohammad Jafarimalek, Mr. Christopher “Bong” Grajo the President of Emergency Response Integration Center (ERIC) as keynote speakers and Rev. Fr. Lucio Rosaroso, Jr. the Deputy Chief, Chaplaincy Services, PNP.

The forum`s main objective is to eradicate the mentality that Islam is equal to terrorist and to spread the thought that religion and extremist has no respect to whatever religion, because primarily, their concern is to create chaos in our society. In response, we need the collective efforts of everyone for this to be a success. Furthermore, we should always work hand in hand for our common humanity.
