To increase the metro’s chances of better recovery and implementation of contingencies in the event of earthquakes especially the anticipated magnitude 7.2 quake that will be generated by the movement of the West Valley Fault was the objective of the Metro-wide Shake Drill held simultaneously in different parts of Greater Metro Manila area on July 30. The drill which was participated also by Quiapo Church started at 10:30 in the morning and concluded at 11:30 am.


Quiapo Church’s staff, security, members of the organizations, some parishioners and volunteers joined the drill. Scenarios were acted out to see the employees’ preparedness and response as first responders in any disaster event. Quiapo police officers also served as part of the Law and Order Cluster of the Emergency Response Team.
Before the drill on the said date, Quiapo Church through its Disaster Preparedness and Response Ministry conducted seminar on disaster preparedness to its employees and security staff and provided trainings in different areas such as Search, Rescue and Retrieval, Medical Response, Management of the Dead and the Missing and Psycho-Spiritual Integration. Second wave of trainings will be conducted to continuously provide knowledge and skills to MBBN employees.
